Easter Weekend

Our Easter weekend was, for the most part, very lovely.

On Friday we headed to Gramma and Grampa K's for lunch and and a fun afternoon together. Aunt Kathy led the older cousins through a reading of the resurrection story using Resurrection Eggs . . . a really neat tool to help kids celebrate Easter.

Grandma B and Pappa visited on Saturday, and we headed to Pittsburgh to enjoy the spring flower show at Phipps, followed by dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant. (By now you see a pattern here, right? We are, if nothing else, predictable.)

Hey, if you lived in a state with five months of cold and dreary weather,
you'd flock to the botanical gardens too!

Anna Kate worked as a cashier at the grocery store.
Here Pappa is buying a quart of strawberries. : )

An aside . . . why oh why do some children so strenuously avoid the camera lens?
Anyone? Anyone?

The youngest member of the family likes to take the lead.

It was a beautiful day!

Later that evening, Grandma B helped Adrienne dye Easter eggs.

Well, this is the point in the post where you'd expect to find photos of the girls searching for their Easter baskets, or dressed in their lovely dresses for church. In the interest of transparency, I'll share that we hit a bit of a rough patch Sunday morning. For one, I overslept. When Mamma wakes up and the Easter baskets are sitting empty in the attic, the day isn't off to the best start. And when you arrive one minute before the service starts, where might you and your 2-year old who only ate m & m's for breakfast find a seat? Yes, in the first pew. Ten minutes later Joe and a very loud AK made the long walk back up the aisle. My after-church photo shoot went nowhere fast and I was less than patient . . . thus, no lovely images to share with all of you.

Blessedly, a few hours later things were looking up! We gathered at Aunt Kathy and Uncle Gregg's house and a great time was had by all. The Easter dinner was so delicious, the cousins played and had an Easter egg hunt, and we celebrated Joe - - an Easter baby!

Cousins dressed in their Lands End shirts from Gramma K!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Rises as her Maker rose.
Seeds, so long in darkness sleeping,
Burst at last from winter snows.
Earth with heaven above rejoices . . . "
